Traditionally a “Bothy” is the Scottish term for an often remote, hillside hut where the shepherds and travellers would rest, take a dram (a drink), tell stories in the firelight and recover for their next gruelling day. These were particularly common in the Scottish Highlands.
We have six properties on the scenic South Island, split between Queenstown and the Port Hills of Christchurch.
Our collection of Bothies go well beyond the facilities and comfort of the traditionally simple huts. Beautifully furnished, warm and welcoming, they are the perfect place to get away with friends or family to work, play or rest, recover and enjoy. Relax and take in the wonderful views whether they be of the Alps or the Remarkables, the city or the lake.
Bothy accommodation is affordable, welcoming luxury. Thanks for taking a look at our homes and we hope you choose to stay time and time again as many of our guests have.
Hi, my name is Jen.
With Scottish origins I love the mountains and walking, biking , running in the hills surrounding our home in Cashmere. My children go to the local schools and I participate in all the activities there from teaching aerobics to helping organising events.
I like to keep busy and therefore enjoy managing property projects. We love the multicultural feel in NZ and would love to meet people from different parts of the world! I love the sea, the mountains and the fresh air and I encourage my children and friends to join me
As a host i would love to meet new people and hear their stories but i appreciate peoples privacy and would follow their lead rather than talk “at” them!
Love to Help!
I will speak with you prior to arrival to make sure your stay is all you expect.
In Christchurch I would love to meet you in person, and recommend local places to see/ eat / walk. I have often taken guest on walks on the hills with louis my border collie, but completely respect your privacy.
In Queenstown we have a fabulous property management company that works with us and you during your stay should you need any help.
